^ Titanium Nitride (TiN) is the gold-coloured coating that improves the durability and working life of the cutting edge. TiN-coated cutting tools outlast those which are not coated. Workability is also improved because swarf and chips are less likely to adhere to the cutting surface.
^^ When drilling stainless steel use low speed, high pressure, and cutting fluid. Otherwise, the stainless steel will overheat causing work hardening which will damage the step drill.
