NOTE - These brushes are sold individually; order two if you want to replace both.

Motor brushes will wear out over time. Overused motor brushes can cause the contact spring to be drawn into the motor, causing damage. If your hoist is being used a lot, check the brushes regularly and replace them if they are getting worn.
